Score! Rocklin Success Connection’s Goals 101 Success

January 21, 2013

The Goals 101 program is working wonders in Rocklin! The Rocklin Success Connection put in place three mechanisms, with these results:

1. Encouraged all members to visit other chapters and attend MSP. Tim Nichols got a referral from another chapter.

2. Asked for participation from members on BNI Connect. Roger Wickline received a referral through BNI Connect from the Bay Area.

3. Invited visitors with an e-vite to local chamber, as well as personal letters. Two visitors attended yesterday, and both submitted applications.

What I did on my summer vacation…..

Written on by Brian Bentzen  guest blogger

SUMMERTIME NETWORKING

The temperature is rising and so are your networking opportunities!
Every once in a while I hear a BNI member say that their chapter slows down during the summer months. I also know of many chapters that flourish in the
summer with new members and referral growth! So why are some up and some down?
It is a matter of gearing towards the season.

Winter coats sell better in December than July and bathing suits sell better in June than January! So have you changed your networking season?
Have you re-tooled your networking machinery?

What summertime networking activities are you attending?

… Bar Be Que?

… Pool Party?

… Picnic?

… Golf… Boating… Tennis… Gardening?

Pool Party Networking! Remember that a good networker has two ears and one mouth and uses them proportionately! Listen to what everyone is really saying.

Are they complaining about business?… Invite them to your BNI chapter.

Are they excited about a wedding?… Who in your chapter will that be a good referral for?

Do you have a frozen drink in your hand… Talk about your HVAC member!

Do they need work on their home or need a new home? It’s Referral time!

Are you talking about the stock market and your BNI financial planner? Referral Anyone?

Ball Game Networking!

A great networking strategy is to get tickets to a ball game and invite a BNI member and a potential referral. Whether your team wins or loses great
connections can be made!

The FOUR hour one to one!

If you are a golfer, you know what I mean! Find a fellow BNI Member who also plays golf.  Set up a round and you each bring a client. What a great way to solidify a top referral!

You do not play golf? Is there an activity that you do that you and a fellow member can invite clients too?

Any place you go with family, friends or strangers is a networking opportunity!

… Bring Your Business Cards!

… Remember Your Fellow Members

 The GOAL?

…One Referral Per Event You Attend!

… Who have you met that you can invite to your chapter!

Here’s to a GREAT summer filled with lots of referrals!  Make sure you let us know of any of your own great Summertime Referral stories!

“21 Whole Days”

May 10, 2012

It is May 10th.  We are smack dab in the middle of Membership Extravaganza and you may be beginning to flag.  Your chapter might even be thinking that it is too late to be entered into the drawing for a free trip to Las Vegas.

STOP worrying right now!  You have 21 days to form a new habit!

You have 21 whole days before the end of the Membership Extravaganza period.  21 whole days to practice LOVING your visitors.  21 whole days to practice loving inviting visitors.  21 whole days to practice loving having visitors and then following up with visitors.

Here is a secret.  Visitors are bread and butter opportunities for doing new business whether they join the chapter or not.  We have many visitors that have a great experience, find a new vendor or company to do business with and even refer business without ever joining a chapter.

If you view a Visitor as only a potential chapter member you are missing out.  If you genuinely love your visitors and welcome them to your meeting you have a golden opportunity to get to know them a little bit and if there seems to be a possibility of doing business make an appointment for a dance card.  Don’t jump on the visitor with “Let’s Do Business” talk but say simply “I’d like the opportunity to get to know you (or your business) more.  Could we meet an another time over coffee so that could happen?”

We love Visitors.  Whether they join a chapter or not.   If you are reading this and you are a Visitor and not yet a member, please click here for more information.  If you have visited a chapter and enjoyed the experience without joining please share your experience here on the blog.  We’d love to hear from you.

The purpose of Membership Extravaganza is to remind you of how vital Visitors are to  your chapter’s health and well-being.  Keep inviting Visitors every week.  Many chapters encourage their members to do just this.  An important reminder during Extravaganza when the thrill of big event Visitors Days is running hot.

Still…………… inviting Visitors during Membership Extravaganza will earn you a chance to take your honey an a free trip to Vegas Baby!  Where you will rub shoulders (and possibly card playing hands) with other winners and with Ivan and Beth Misner founders of BNI.  We are delighted at the great work we see our chapters doing and this is just a reminder that you still have 21 whole days left to get comfy with Visitors.
